Duane Heady knows the insurance business inside out.
I got started in the insurance industry in San Antonio back in 1983. As the co-founder of Concord Insurance Service, we built the business around customer loyalty and service and a commitment to my employees. And those commitments paid off in the huge success of the company. Ultimately, Concord grew to 26 agency locations around the state of Texas.
“I made it my business to know every aspect of my company.” At Concord Insurance, I emphasized direct marketing, underwriting results and customer service, as well as marketing and advertising. My personal responsibilities included the development of all marketing and advertising; sales development and training; insurance company negotiations and rate setting; negotiating with re-insurers and managing personnel. In short, I was a hands-on owner.
Duane also knows about profitable exit strategies. As owner of Concord Insurance, Duane created a profitable environment that ultimately lead to the sale of the agency. In 1999, the company was sold to Mercury General Corporation, a large national company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Since then, Duane has helped many owners make profitable exits.
